Participants in Bible readings and quizzes like you tend to have a high view of the Bible, equating it as the Word of God for all time. I too understand the Bible to be a unique source of information about God and humanity which cannot be found elsewhere.
Some people who seriously take the Bible try to transfer every command, every good example, every necessary inference found on the pages of the New Testament text to our time. While I applaud this earnest effort, I know of no one who obeys every command in the New Testament, follows every good example or agrees on what every necessary inference is.
There are times when it sees to me that there are examples in the New Testament of a first century applications of the gospel which don't necessarily apply to the 21st Century. As you read 1 Timothy 5 & 6, what do you see as first century applications of the gospel that may not necessarily be applicable today's application of the same gospel?
